CLB meaning in TEF?

CLB (Canada Language Benchmark) is:
✔ Canada’s official system to measure language proficiency
✔ Used to convert TEF scores for immigration
✔ Ranges from CLB 1-12 (CLB 5+ required for Express Entry)

How CLB Works with TEF:

  • Your TEF scores (0-699) map to CLB levels

  • Each skill (listening/reading/writing/speaking) gets a separate CLB

  • Example: TEF Speaking 309-348 = CLB 7 (B2)

Why It Matters for You:

  • Express Entry: Minimum CLB 5 needed

  • Quebec CSQ: Requires CLB 7 (B2) in speaking
